Functional Hand-Built Ceramics
Each piece is one of a kind. It begins with a small piece of stoneware clay, rolled out flat into a slab, then carefully built up by hand into shape. Subtle irregularities—slight variations in thickness, the gentle fingerprints of the maker—are part of the character. The surface is refined through trimming, smoothing, and thoughtful joins; textures and edges are considered to balance form and function. After drying to a leather-hard stage, pieces are bisque-fired, then hand-glazed. A final high-temperature glaze firing vitrifies the clay into durable stoneware and deepens the glaze’s depth and sheen.
